Miapetra Kumpula-Natri is a second term Member of the European Parliament and belongs to the Parliament's social democratic group (S&D). She is the vice-chair of the Parliament's US Delegation and member in the industry (ITRE), trade (INTA) and constitutional affairs (AFCO) committees. Mrs Kumpula-Natri has focused on digital and energy issues in particular and has earned the nickname “Madame Roaming” for having led the Parliament's efforts in pushing down consumers' costs of using their cellular phones abroad. Prior to her election to the European Parliament, Mrs Kumpula-Natri was a member of the Finnish Parliament for 11 years and acted as the chairperson of the Parliament’s Grand Committee (EU affairs). She was also chair of the Finnish Parliament's US Friendship Group. Mrs Kumpula-Natri is an engineer by education.
